The aim of the research is to identify a list of critical thinking skills that must be available in the science book for the fifth grade of primary school.
The research community is represented by the content of the science book for the fifth grade of primary school, which was approved by the Ministry of Education for the academic year (2019-2020 AD), fourth edition. After excluding the introductions of each unit and the questions of the chapters and using the analytical descriptive approach, the researcher looked at a set of literature related to critical thinking skills, and information and data were collected and interpreted about the content of the science book for the fifth grade of primary school, and a questionnaire for critical thinking skills was built as a research tool to analyze the content of the science book for the fifth grade Elementary, if the tool includes five main skills (conclusion, knowing assumptions, evaluating discussions, interpretation, deduction), these five main skills fall under sub-indicators, which are twenty-five sub-indicators.
The research tool was presented to a group of arbitrators of experts and specialists in the field of teaching methods, curricula and statistics, numbering 20 experts, to find the validity of the analysis, then they were shown the analysis model.
In order to find the stability of the analysis, (20%) of the content of the science book for the fifth grade of primary school was analyzed, which included four pages from each of the six units in the book on 2/14/2021 AD, which is the first analysis of critical thinking skills, then the researcher conducted the second analysis of critical thinking skills On 3/1/2021 AD, the percentage of the analysis constant was calculated using the Holsty equation, and it amounted to (0.94%).
Then the same sample (20%) of the science book for the fifth grade of primary school was presented to two other arbitrators to analyze it, the first holding a bachelor's degree in science and the second holding a master's degree in general teaching methods, and when using the Holsty equation, the ratio of the constant between the analysis of the researcher and the first analyst was (0 83%, and between the analysis of the researcher and the second analyst (0.77%), and between the first analyzer and the second analyst (0.93%), and the average stability (criterion) was (86.75). And to find the stability of the analysis among the analysts, the average of the stability (criterion), and an analysis of the entire content of the science book for the fifth grade of primary school was carried out, as the number of critical thinking skills reached (843) skills.
The results that were reached: (33.09%) knowledge of assumptions, (26.2%) reasoning skill, (17.67%) interpretation skill, (12.93%) deductive reasoning skill. Availability of the skill of evaluating discussions by (10%).
The percentages of the sub-indicators were calculated in the light of each main skill, and the researcher referred to the conclusions, recommendations and suggestions in the research.
