Abstract

Analytical thinking is one of the mental processes by which the situation is dismantled into its parts and reorganized through a way that allows seeing events in a new way in which the individual realizes how the cognitive structures are interconnected. It can be said that the mental aspects play an influential role in building the personality of the individual. Aspects of human personality. The research problem was identified in measuring the analytical thinking of psychological counseling students according to the following objectives: To identify the level of analytical thinking among psychological counseling students. Identifying differences in the level of analytical thinking among psychological counseling students according to the gender variable. Identifying the differences in the level of analytical thinking among psychological counseling students according to the stage variable (third - fourth). To achieve this, the descriptive approach was adopted because it is commensurate with the objectives of the research, as the current research community consisted of students from the psychological counseling departments in three universities (Al-Mustansiriya, Diyala, and Basra). In order to achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher built a measure of analytical thinking after following the scientific steps in its construction as well as verifying the validity and reliability. When processing the data statistically, the results revealed the following: Psychological counseling students have a high level of analytical thinking. There are statistically significant differences in the level of analytical thinking among students according to the gender variable (male, female) and in favor of males. There are no differences in the level of analytical thinking among students according to the variable of the study stage (third and fourth). According to the results of the current research, some recommendations and proposals have been developed.
