Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during the summer season in 1999 at Latifia Research Station, west of Baghdad, to study the effect of different harvest dates (35, 45, 55, and 65) days after 50% flowering on the yield and its components of four long-grain rice varieties (Anbar 33, Anbar Munathira, Anbar Baghdad, Amber Furat). A randomized complete block design was used with split plot arrangement and with three replications, cultivars were placed within the main panels, while harvest dates represented the secondary panels. The cultivar (Amber Furat) gave the highest rate in the number of buds/m2 (382.7), in the average weight of 1000 grains (22.1 g), in the average canola yield (5.42 tons/ha), in the average biological yield (17.5 tons/ha), and in the harvest index. (31%), while the cultivar (Anbar 33) gave the lowest rate in the number of buds/m2, which reached (290.5 buds/m2), in the number of grains/double (41 grains/double), and in the weight of 1000 grains (20.2 g) and in the seed yield ( 3.0 tons/ha) and in biological yield (14.3 tons/ha) and in harvest index (21.2%). Harvest date after 35 days of 50% flowering gave the highest average number of grains/bullion (179.7 grains/bullion), average weight of 1000 grains (21.7g), pulp yield (4.9 tons/ha), and average biological yield (16.5 tons/ha). ) and in the harvest index rate (29.7%). There was a significant overlap between cultivars and harvest dates. The cultivar Amber Furat gave the highest seed yield (5.8 tons/ha) after 35 days of 50% flowering.
