Redesigned interactive whiteboard with Wii mote technology
Abstract
The whiteboard is one of the oldest and most widely used teaching aids in education, and no professor or teacher can dispense with it. New types have developed and appeared, including expensive commercial smart boards. Therefore, this study aimed to use a new technology that combines infrared rays and the use of Bluetooth technology in communication, which creates an interactive whiteboard with Low cost compared to the smart board. As for the research tools, the researcher used physical components to create that board, such as the personal computer, a Red Infrared IR=Pen, a Wiimote device, and the use of Bluetooth technology for the purpose of making a connection between the computer and the pen. And do not forget the necessary software for the work of the interactive whiteboard, such as the Smooth Board program and the accompanying programs such as the Microsoft Framework. This program requires staying connected to the Internet during installation, and it will take some time to install it (approximately ten minutes from the Internet). Calibrating and adjusting the screen, red circles will appear, which we press with an IR pen in all four corners of the screen, and then the screen becomes interactive, and the IR pen takes the place of the interactive whiteboard pen, and the mouse works, and the screen turns into a touch screen, and in light of the researcher’s findings, comes The current research deals with the topic of the interactive whiteboard, which is considered one of the means of modern technological education, which is an alternative to the smart board (commercial interactive whiteboard) which is owned by a few educational institutions such as private schools and colleges (for the Arab Gulf countries such as Bahrain and Kuwait), but because of its high cost, it became necessary to find a technology New, comparable to the work of that smart board and at a lower cost, so the idea of doing this research came in order to use this modern technology in our classrooms in Iraqi schools and universities.
