Abstract

The study aimed to know whether there are statistically significant differences in mental development between two groups, one with the right performance side and the other on the left. Sixty children (6, 9 and 12) were selected, divided equally into the two groups, gender and age. A test of mental development was applied to them. After the equivalence process was conducted on them in a group of extraneous variables. The results showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups according to the ages of the study, and there was also no effect of the interaction of performance and ages on mental development. In recent years, attention has been increasingly focused on the search for the relationship between cerebral lateralization and cognitive abilities, as cerebral lateralization is linked in many aspects to lateral performance. numbers, while the right cerebral hemisphere is specialized in complex spatial processes (Gazzaniga, 1970). A group of researchers in this field believes that individuals who use the left hand show a diversity in the specialization of the two hemispheres of the brain, while others claim that individuals who use the left hand strongly have linguistic representations either in the right hemisphere or in both hemispheres (i.e. mixed brain organization) ( Satzetal, 1963) (Knox & Boonc, 1970).
