The folk tale in the children's theater and its role in developing the child's imagination

Since its inception, the art of theater relied on the popular imagination, and dealt with various topics derived from the history and culture of peoples. At the level of the Arab world, many playwrights tried to use literature and popular heritage in preparing their plays, and this was reflected in plays for children, because the folk tale carries The element of adventure and suspense and the diversity of characters, so the aim of this research is to identify the role of folk tales in developing children's imagination in theatrical texts presented to children. In the second chapter, the researchers dealt with the definition of the folk tale and how to employ it in theatrical work, and in the third chapter, the descriptive analytical approach was adopted, and a tool for analysis derived from the indicators of the theoretical framework was adopted, and the tool got the truth after it was presented to a committee of experts specialized in art education, and The research sample was a play (Aladdin's Lamp) by the author Ahmed Khalaf. The research came out with a number of results, the most important of which are: 1- The employment of folk tales in theatrical texts directed to children contributes to the development of the child's imagination. 2- The folk tale transports the child to strange worlds that contribute to the suspense and stimulate the child's imagination. 3- The theatrical texts directed to the child can constitute an addition to the educational aspect in the school in order to inculcate educational values.
