Evaluate the teaching skills of science teachers at the elementary level

Abstract

Today, the teacher industry is viewed on the grounds that it is an extended profession that influences the making of successive generations, and this requires good preparation for this teacher. In order for the teacher to contribute through possessing these competencies in developing the teaching skills of the learners. (13: p. 17). And because science generalizes the important subjects that need to be taught for the teacher to possess teaching competencies, due to the diversity and multiplicity of responsibilities undertaken by the science teacher. This requires providing certain characteristics in the competent teacher (19: p. 73). Therefore, the science teacher must realize his role and function and realize their instability, but rather he must realize their change according to society and the educational system as well. And he has to use the latest developments in the educational process in terms of teaching methods, evaluation methods, etc., based on contemporary educational sources (21: p. 22). Which makes him enhance his qualifications, correct what he is going through, and raise some existing levels to the required level. Thus, the teacher will be competent and possess the teaching competencies necessary to teach the students. These necessary competencies and must be available in different types, including what is general, some are special, others are professional, and others are social. And when such competencies are available, they make the teacher able to keep pace with development, which makes his students keep pace with development. This is if the teacher is aware of his role and function and works to develop himself. However, studies have proven the weakness of the scientific competence of some teachers and their lack of interest in what students suffer from school problems and the lack of objectivity among some teachers in the evaluation process and others, which proves the weakness of these teachers' possession of these competencies. In order to find out the extent to which teachers have achieved the teaching competencies required for teaching in the primary stage, they must be subjected to evaluation in order to diagnose their positives to support them and to diagnose and treat the negatives. Despite the multiplicity and diversity of methods used in evaluation, observation was chosen as a tool for measurement in the current research because of its ability to collect information or data on learners' performance, which we cannot evaluate using other means. Therefore, the current study aims to evaluate the teaching competencies of science teachers in the primary stage. Because of the lack of studies in this field, there is a need to carry out this study, which the authorities responsible for the educational process may benefit from.
