Abstract

Perhaps one of the salient features that characterize our intellectual renaissance is the increasing interest in social research that aims to study the phenomena of society, discuss the various social problems that confront it, and know the needs of society to meet them. They violated the law, that is, they committed acts that society considers, through its laws, to be crimes punishable by law. They pay the social price represented in the confiscation of freedom for a certain period of time, and the society that confiscates their freedom does not aim to harm or take revenge on them. In the final analysis, they are citizens, and professionally they represent a group of experiences that were Society can invest it in a way that can benefit from them in many fields. Despite the collapse of most traditional punitive methods and the emergence of new reform methods in the treatment of offenders and delinquents since the beginning of the current century, imprisonment remained the main method for dealing with criminals, in particular those returning criminals, and correctional institutions remained. Applied fields and practical laboratories to implement some scientific hypotheses and achieve some correctional or therapeutic goals in the treatment of offenders. Therefore, these institutions are no longer just places of detention and punishment, but rather have been transformed, according to modern logic in the social and technical fields, into correctional institutions, i.e. institutions that include a set of programs aimed at urging the inmate to comply. The rules of society, the eradication of factors of deviation, the creation of guidelines and values that make the inmate a good and normal citizen, although the success of these institutions depends on many factors, including the effectiveness of the procedures and programs, the extent of the inmate’s acceptance, the type of crime, the duration of the sentence, and the validity of the correctional institutions.
