The Effect of Learning Units Based on the Branching Linear Learning Approach on Learning Dribbling and Shooting Skills in Handball for Female Students

This research aimed to investigate the effect of learning units based on the branching linear learning approach on developing dribbling and shooting skills in handball among middle school students. The researchers adopted an experimental design with two equivalent groups (experimental and control) using pre- and post-tests. The original population consisted of (169) fourth-grade students from Thuwaiba Islamic Preparatory School for the academic year 2025-2026, distributed across four sections: Scientific Section A (50), B (50), C (49), and the fourth-grade Literary section (20). The research sample consisted of (20) students for the experimental group and (20) students for the control group. (12) educational units were implemented with the experimental group at a rate of two units per week over (6) weeks. The results were then analyzed using SPSS software. The results showed that adopting the educational units according to the branching linear approach contributed significantly to improving the experimental group compared to the control group, which positively impacted the students' skill performance level. The researchers concluded by recommending the adoption of this method in handball teaching, taking into account the gradual progression of activities from easy to difficult, and allocating an appropriate amount of time for each activity to ensure a balance between cognitive and skill-based learning, thus enhancing the effectiveness of the educational process in physical education.
