Environmental study for some Almusthat water in the province of Diyala
Abstract
Some physical and chemical factors were studied for five stations, two of them on the Diyala River, two on the Khuraisan River, and one station on the Gentlemen's Benchmark. Semi-monthly samples were collected from all stations starting from November 2003 until January 2004. It was observed that the water temperature followed the air temperature, and the highest temperature recorded did not exceed 26 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature was 12.5 degrees Celsius. The pH values were on the basal side in all stations during the study period. While the highest concentration of chloride was recorded in Al-Sada’s drain and Diyala Hadith, which amounted to 220 mg for recreation at the end of January, while the lowest concentration was recorded in the Khuraisan River, where it reached 55 mg per liter at the beginning of November 2003. The value of electrical conductivity of water in the Diyala River station is within the permissible range, as it did not exceed 2460 microsiemens cm-1 in January 2004, while the highest value was recorded in the Khuraisan River station, which amounted to 890 microsiemens cm-1, i.e. suitable for drinking, while it was recorded in the Al-Sada drain station The highest value was 2990 microsiemens cm-1, i.e. drinkable, and the values were high during the winter.
