Social Withdrawal among Kindergarten Children

The current study aims to identify:
- The level of social withdrawal among kindergarten children.
- The differences in the mean scores of social withdrawal among kindergarten children according to the gender variable (male and female).
In order to achieve the objectives of the current study, the researcher developed a Social Withdrawal Scale. It was administered to a sample of (358) kindergarten children, including (179) boys and (179) girls, who were selected using a simple random sampling method during the academic year (2022–2023). Subsequently, the discriminative power and face validity were established, in addition to verifying the reliability of the research instrument using Cronbach’s Alpha. The reliability coefficient obtained through Cronbach’s Alpha was (0.94). The final version of the Social Withdrawal Scale consisted of (15) items. After ensuring the validity of the research instrument in light of the indicators of validity and reliability, administering it to the study sample, and subsequently collecting and statistically analyzing the data, the present study arrived at the following result:
1-Kindergarten children exhibit social withdrawal.
2-There are no statistically significant differences in the level of social withdrawal according to the gender variable (males and females).
Finally, the researcher proposed a set of recommendations and suggestions.
