This study aimed to identify the nature of social safety schemas and family adjustment among adolescents in schools, as well as to identify statistical differences in social safety schemas and family adjustment according to the variables of gender and residential environment (rural vs. urban) .The study sample consisted of 400 adolescents from schools in Al-Diwaniyah city. The researcher developed a Social Safety Schemas Scale consisting of 18 items distributed across two domains: social safety and social threat. A Family Adjustment Scale(Abdel Hamid, 1986) was also adopted. The findings indicated that adolescents in schools possessed positive social safety schemas and a good level of family adjustment, as reflected by high levels of human relations and low levels of distancing, despite a lower level in the dimension of intimacy and affection. The results also revealed no statistically significant differences in social safety schemas according to gender and residential environment. Statistically significant differences were found in family adjustment in the dimensions of intimacy and affection and distancing, while no significant differences were found in the dimension of human relations according to gender. Similarly, no statistically significant differences were found according to residential environment. Furthermore, a significant correlation was found between the dimensions of social safety schemas and family adjustment. The researcher recommended implementing psychological programs in schools aimed at enhancing social safety and developing adolescents' skills to improve their level of family adjustment. The researcher also suggested conducting similar studies involving other variables and different populations groups.
