1-1 Introduction and Importance of the Research

The importance of this research lies in its attempt to utilize the "Stahl" and "Murphy" teaching models in the field of physical education and sports science, as they represent modern teaching methods that take into account individual differences in learning some basic handball skills among students, in comparison with another method—the command style. Furthermore, it aims to identify the features, objectives, and effects of using both methods in the learning process of the basic skills under investigation.

The research problem is crystallized in the following question: What is the effect of instructional units according to the Stahl and Murphy model on learning some basic handball skills among students?

The research aims to identify the effect of the "Stahl" and "Murphy" models on learning some basic handball skills among students, and to identify the statistical differences between the pre-tests and post-tests of the experimental and control groups in learning some basic handball skills among students.

The researcher hypothesized that there are statistically significant differences between the pre-test and post-test of the experimental group in learning some basic handball skills among students, and that there are statistically significant differences between the post-tests of the experimental and control groups in learning some basic handball skills among students.

The researcher employed the experimental method due to its suitability to the nature of the current research. The research sample was selected using a random method. A total of (30) students from Division (A) were chosen to form the experimental group, and (30) students from Division (B) were chosen to form the control group. Students who were absent on the day of the tests were excluded. A pilot study sample of (10) students was also selected, bringing the total research sample to (60) students.

The researcher concluded that the educational program using instructional units according to the Stahl and Murphy model was effective in teaching basic handball skills to students in the experimental group, and that the experimental group outperformed the control group in basic handball skills among first-year students in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences
