Abstract

The present study aims to identify the level of self-monitoring among secondary school female students. The researcher adopted the descriptive approach due to its suitability to the nature of the study. The research sample consisted of 400 female students selected from governmental secondary schools in Al-Muqdadiyah District, affiliated with the Directorate of Education of Diyala Governorate, during the academic year (2025–2026). The participants were selected using a stratified random sampling method with proportional allocation. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher constructed a Self-Monitoring Scale consisting of 24 items based on Mark Snyder’s theory of self-monitoring. The psychometric properties of the scale, including validity and reliability, were verified. The results of the statistical analysis, conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), revealed that the mean score of the students was 46.31 with a standard deviation of 10.92. These findings indicate that the participants possess a moderate level of self-monitoring that is consistent with the characteristics of their developmental stage and educational environment
