Abstract

The research problem stems from the researchers’ observation that some teaching methods rely on the teacher’s academic experience and may not be well-suited to the learner’s or student’s abilities when studying and practicing basketball, dedicating sufficient time to mastering the game’s skills. This results in students merely receiving and following the teacher’s instructions, without being given sufficient opportunities to develop their This highlighted the need to use instructional exercises based on the Bentgram Strategy, which may contribute to raising performance levels and improving basketball shooting skills.

The study aims to examine the effect of using instructional exercises based on the Bentgram Strategy on the acquisition of the skill of shooting a basketball for students at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Diyala. The researchers employed an experimental approach due to its suitability for the nature and problem of the study. The research population consisted of students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Diyala for the (2025–2026) academic year. The research sample consisted of (30) students who were randomly divided into two groups—an experimental group and a control group—with (15) students in each group. The researchers conducted exploratory experiments, identified the skill under study, administered pre-tests, implemented the instructional exercises, conducted post-tests, and used the (Statistical Software Package System (SPSS) to analyze the research results. Through this process, the researchers concluded that instructional exercises using the Bentgram Strategy have a positive effect on students’ learning of the basketball dribbling among students.
