Sports Management and its Role in Self-Confidence among School Principals in the First Rusafa Directorate / Baghdad Governorate

Abstract

The progress of nations in sports reflects the extent of their progress in using modern sports management in all their sports activities. The higher the level of management, the better the sports level. The success of sports institutions and organizations depends on the extent to which management principles are applied at all levels, starting from sports activities practiced in the Ministry of Education to those practiced in universities and higher institutes. There has become an urgent need to activate physical education classes, as they align with the spirit of the times and meet the needs of students and society to keep pace with the modern era. In contemporary education, the school is no longer limited to focusing solely on students' academic or cognitive development; rather, it has evolved in accordance with the development of education and its implications and outcomes on all levels.

The importance of this research lies in identifying the level of confidence possessed by school managers and its contribution to their self-confidence. School managers are a crucial and effective element in leading and directing all efforts, resources, and material and human capabilities to achieve the planned goals. The research problem stems from the fact that physical education lessons suffer from numerous issues, some of which the researcher highlighted. These issues include the manager’s own shortcomings and the shortcomings of some school administrations. Furthermore, school managers are in greater need of activating sports management and implementing sports activities and practices that benefit students. The research aims to evaluate the management of physical education lessons to understand the student's role and the extent to which the lessons achieve their objectives in terms of providing a good and appropriate lesson for students and also to expand participation. Therefore, the research objective is to identify the role of sports management and its relationship to confidence from the perspective of school managers. The research methodology employed is a descriptive survey approach, following its established steps and procedures, as it is suitable for achieving the research objectives. The research sample consisted of 30 school managers. The researcher then selected 10 physical education teachers to conduct the lesson and chose 850 students to participate.
